Maria-Star is a full-blooded werewolf and packmember of the Shreveport pack. She worked as an assistant to a were photographer.

She is first introduced in the fourth book, Dead to the World, when Maria-Star, in wolf form, gets injured in an attack by the witch coven. Sookie takes Maria-Star to the hospital. Maria-Star has "beautiful light-toast skin and curly dark hair." This character appears in subsequent novels, and becomes Alcide ’s girlfriend, though she is brutally murdered in the eighth book, From Dead to Worse .
