A coven is a community or gathering of Witches, and is most commonly noted for its practices of magic and witchcraft. On the HBO original series True Blood, several covens exist, the most common being the one led by the powerful witch Marnie Stonebrook (Hallow Stonebrook in "The Southern Vampire Mysteries", the series of novels in which the HBO original series True Blood is based).

Etymology[]

The word "coven" derives from several cognates used in language variants. It comes from the Middle English covent, from the Anglo-Norman covent, or cuvent, from the Old French convent, and from the Latin conventum, convenio, or cum ("with") and venio ("I come").
